Rishabh Pant returns as BCCI announce 15-man squad for South Africa tour of India
BCCI have announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming South Africa tour of India, with Rishabh Pant's return to action the headline act. India will host South Africa for a two-match series, starting November 14th at the Eden Gardens.
Pant replaces N Jagadeesan in the squad, with Akash Deep returning to the fold as well. Prasidh Krishna’s spot in the squad. Pant missed out the West Indies series on home soil as he was recovering from the fracture that happened during India’s fourth Test against England while Deep was also recovering from a back injury which kept him out of the Duleep Trophy. However, he was part of the Bengal squad for the first two Ranji Trophy matches of the latest season.
Shubman Gill will lead the side with Pant named as his deputy, with the likes of KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj bringing a wealth of expertise in the squad. India are currently placed in third position with four wins from seven games and a win percentage of 61.90, and wins against South Africa will go a long way in India's quest for a spot in the WTC Final.
The Indian selectors also announced the India A squad for one-dayers against South Africa-A, with Tilak Varma named as captain of the squad.
