Rishabh Pant has got some work to do with his keeping: Ricky Ponting

After wicketkeeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha's poor performance in the first Test match at Adelaide, Rishabh Pant was selected in the Playing XI for second and third Test matches. But the 23-year-old hasn't impressed much either.

In the ongoing third Test match of the Border-Gavaskar trophy, Pant dropped the debutant Will Pucovski twice. Those were two easy catches which could have put the Aussies on the back foot. Former cricketers and experts were quick enough to point out the error which the Delhi-born wicketkeeper does.

Speaking to cricket.com.au, Former Australia captain and Delhi Capitals coach, Ricky Ponting addressed the faulty efforts of Rishabh Pant behind the sticks.

“The one's (dropped catches) today are two that should be taken, simple as that. It's probably lucky for Rishabh that Pucovski didn't go on and make a big hundred or a double hundred and looking at the wicket, it looks like an unbelievable surface," he said.

Dropping catching would always mean the worst for a keeper

"I'm sure when Rishabh put those catches down, he would have thought the worst and 'here we go, he's really going to make me pay' but (Pucovski) didn't today. I've said it all along, the knock-on Rishabh is always going to be on his keeping," he added.

Punter suggests Pant must rework on his keeping technique

Since his debut in Test cricket, he's dropped more catches than any other keeper in the world. That highlights he has got some work to do with his keeping," highlighted Ponting.
