It was a roller-coaster day in Dubai as the Royal Challengers Bangalore think-tank started slow in the IPL 2024 Auction, but eventually, they pulled off a heist in the end to fill all their slots with INR 2.85 crore remaining in the bank.

The first buy of the day for RCB was that of Caribbean quick, Alzarri Joseph, who was roped in for INR 11.50 crore right after a one-on-one battle with SunRisers Hyderabad to sign Pat Cummins, which went in vain. Joseph has a mean bumper in his arsenal and can regularly clock up to 145 kph. With the new rule of two bouncers being allowed in a single over in the IPL, the menacing pacer will certainly be the one to watch out for alongside the pace spearhead, Reece Topley.

Up next for the Royal Challengers was left-arm pacer, Yash Dayal, who can prove to be very handy with the new ball and the middle-overs. His recent form in the domestic circuit has been heartening, and it was evident to see that paying rich dividends as RCB splurged INR 5 crore for the young quick.

The next buy of the day was Tom Curran who was roped in for his base price of INR 1.5 crore. The experienced England all-rounder was extremely handy in the Hundred last year as he racked up scores of 38*, 43*, 18* and 67* before stunning the Hobart Hurricanes with impressive figures of 3/19 in the ongoing BBL.

With their top-order all set, RCB’s area of concern was a proper fast bowling unit and in order to add more reinforcements to their side, Lockie Ferguson was also roped in by the Red and Gold Brigade. The Kiwi express managed to secure a deal of INR 2 crore before a couple of late buys completed the evening for RCB.

An experienced Swapnil Singh was roped in to get a few enigmatic revs that sets him apart from the others. Bought at the base price of INR 20 lakh, Swapnil makes a value addition to the spinners unit for the Royal Challengers while the final buy of the day was Saurav Chauhan who holds the record of the highest strike rate in an innings (338.88), facing minimum 10 balls in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He was roped in for his base price of INR 20 lakh.

RCB’s full squad for IPL 2024: Faf du Plessis (C), Glenn Maxwell, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Anuj Rawat, Dinesh Karthik, Suyash Prabhudessai, Will Jacks, Mahipal Lomror, Karn Sharma, Manoj Bhandage, Mayank Dagar, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, Reece Topley, Himanshu Sharma, Rajan Kumar, Cameron Green, Alzarri Joseph, Yash Dayal, Tom Curran, Lockie Ferguson, Swapnil Singh, Saurav Chauhan.
