RCB suffer another defeat against Rajasthan Royals despite Virat Kohli’s valiant century

It was another ordinary day in office for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru as they went down against the Rajasthan Royals in the latter’s den. Virat Kohli was the leading act for the visitors as he rocked his 8th century in IPL but that wasn’t enough to get the Royal Challengers home.

Winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals opted to bowl first. Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli were off to a fine start. The duo added 125 runs for the opening stand from just 84 balls before former RCB leggie, Yuzvendra Chahal, got the better of the RCB skipper for 44.

Not long after another collapse followed as Glenn Maxwell (1) and Saurav Chauhan (9) were back to the hut in no time whatsoever. It was King Kohli who kept the hopes alive as he almost single-handedly pulled the show for the visitors. Riding high on his eighth ton in the history of the tournament, RCB posted 183/3 at the end of 20 overs. VK stayed unbeaten for 113 runs from just 72 balls.

Reece Topley got off to a feisty start as he removed the dangerous Yashasvi Jaiswal for a silver duck. However, the early stutter didn’t really push the Royals back any further as captain Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler were quick to get into the groove and fend off any further infringement from Faf and company.

By the time Mohammed Siraj got the better of Samson he had already scored 69 off just 42 balls while being an integral part of the 148-run stand for the second wicket. Yash Dayal kept his wicket-taking streak alive as he clinched the prized scalp of Riyan Parag for four while Topley struck another in the form of Dhruv Jurel who was back in the pavilion for just two.
