RCB release Sri Lanka cricketers Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera for national duties
Royal Challengers Bangalore have released Sri Lanka cricketers Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera for national duties. The duo will join the Sri Lankan squad for the T20 World Cup qualifiers. Both the Lankan cricketers had joined the RCB camp for the UAE leg of the tournament as replacements.
Chameera who impressed everyone with his pace in the camp did not feature in a game, but Hasaranga made his IPL debut against Kolkata Knight Riders in the UAE leg opener and went on to feature in the game against CSK as well.
The leg-spinner posted on his social handle thanking the management, support staff, and the players at RCB for the opportunity.
“Here’s saying a heartfelt thank you and wishing my family/teammates at Royal Challengers Bangalore all the best for the playoffs. This is probably the year we win it all. The experience has been amazing, from team to management to everything (sic). There is a strong bond of brotherhood and friendship we share here. I am truly grateful for the opportunity. Go well RCB.”
Sri Lanka kick off their T20 World Cup campaign against Namibia on October 18th. We wish both our Sri Lankan stars all the luck for the upcoming matches.
