RCB eye playoffs berth against CSK
The Royal Challengers square off with Chennai Super Kings in Round 2 of the Southern Derby at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The last time the two teams met, RCB outpowered their Southern counterparts. The skipper's crafty half-century and a dominating display by the bowlers paved the way for a 37-run victory.
A win on Sunday will ensure that RCB attain.a guaranteed spot In the playoffs. The third successful opening pair in the tournament, Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch, will look to take the toll of the new ball. The southpaw, in his debut season, has displayed immense character and talent -- amassing 321 runs in 10 innings. Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, with their unprecedented capabilities with the bat, have unfailingly proven themselves significant to RCB's success.
The RCB bowling attack has always kept the batsmen on toes, ensuring that there is no one-way traffic. Every bowler has registered timely breakthroughs and contributed handsomely to the team’s cause. The vastly experienced Chris Morris, with a plethora of variations, has been a tough bowler to get away in the death overs. His economy rate is the second-highest in the tournament so far.
CSK, on the other hand, are coming to this fixture on the bank of three consecutive losses on the road. When you boast names of MS Dhoni, Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson, Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja, the first question which pops us in anyone's mind is -- Where can it go wrong? Much will rest on the shoulders of the experienced players, who have not quite enjoyed a fair run of form. Sam Curran has waged a lone battle, exhibiting his all-rounder credentials, albeit in losing causes. Having almost been knocked out of the reckoning for the playoffs berth, CSK will only look to finish the tournament on a strong note.
Standing in solidarity with the Go Green initiative, the Royal Challengers will be sporting Green Jersey against CSK on Sunday.
