RCB Class of 2022: Who could form the middle order for IPL 15?
Over an exciting span of two days, the Challengers came to terms with their new set of players who could add value to the team with decent performances and at the same time will be deemed as the legion of doom for others.
Let us quickly take you through the possible choices that can constitute the middle three of RCB in 2022.
1. Glenn Maxwell
The man who completely transformed RCB’s shape in the precursor edition of the tournament, Glenn Maxwell will be the most important player of the middle-order. His recent form in the BBL is a warning to the upcoming tempest in the IPL. He takes his time to get his eyes in and once he knows that his blade has started talking, he rains boundaries. Switch hits, flicks, pulls, hooks, dancing down the tracks, just name it and it’s there. The Big Show is his nickname after all.
2. Dinesh Karthik
If the cricketing Gods align, forget Kohli, forget Maxy, forget Allen, Karthik can paint any opposition with an aggressive battery that can completely change the course of a contest. An experienced moniker in the IPL for a while now, Karthik comes in with the experience of intense power-hitting and also leadership on his mind. If you remember his knock in the Nidahas Trophy final, you would also know what he brings to the platter. Probably his last two years haven’t been great but a change in the mindset can work out wonders.
3. Mahipal Lomror
Lomror has always been underrated at Rajasthan Royals. He usually used to come lower down the middle order with an urgency to play a few quick strikes. In RCB however, he can be coming up in the pecking order to allow him more game time and get himself set. He is a good striker of the ball and can brew a storm if needed. However, with the pressure he had on himself in the preceding editions kept him stifled for a while.
4. Suyash Prabhudessai
Probably he isn’t the glittering moniker that is being rooted to the fabric of IPL. He is more of a rocky Indian pick who can bat deep in the middle order and play a few decent strokes. He has managed to garner 443 runs at a fine strike rate of 148.16 and a decent average of 31.64. His recent exploits against Punjab and Tamil Nadu in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will be instilling hopes in the RCB middle-order. He is an aggressive striker of the cherry and can bring about an apocalypse if he gets going. Ideally, he comes out to bat at number 4 or 5. Going by the fact that Maxwell will be occupying the number 4 position, ideally, he should be taking the mantle for number 5.
5. Luvnith Sisodia
An impressive youngster, Karnataka’s very own and a quick learner, Luvnith has been a heated topic of conversation for quite some time now. The youngster has been opening for Karnataka while in the KPL final, he arrived at number 4 for the Hubli Tigers. He is a versatile player and can slot himself in any role that has been asked of him. With Bengaluru’s middle-order relying more on Indians after Maxwell, Sisodia can be a perfect pick with his blast of aggression.
