The 2022 season of the IPL is heading towards the business end, and RCB have 4 more games left. Every point is crucial at this point, and could potentially be a make or break in the race for the playoffs.

Ahead of a massive game against the Southern rivals CSK, with such a crucial 2 points at stake, has the team been prepped differently? Director of Cricket Operations, Mike Hesson answered, “I think we got some confidence from the last game, in terms of some things that we did a lot better. But it also showed us that in order for us to play our best cricket, in all 3 departments we’ve got to look for that extra difference.”

CSK have also found a bit of form and confidence with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway steamrolling an in-form SRH in their first game of the season under MS Dhoni. What could be the difference between the two teams going into the derby? “Our middle over bowling has been the best in the competition,” gleamed Mike Hesson. “So we know that’s an area that has worked well. We know that in the powerplay if you’re able to take against any side at least a couple of wickets, you can slow down the middle again, and you can create pressure that way. So, certainly with the ball, that’s the way we’re looking to operate, that’s how we’re gonna do it against CSK. We know their strengths, we’re gonna try and apply pressure in different ways,” he explained.

With 10 points from 5 games, RCB have 4 crucial games coming up in the top 4 battle. The final game in Pune for the team against CSK could be a pivotal point in the campaign.
