RCB Bold Diaries: Injury is definitely the hardest part of fast bowling – Josh Hazlewood

One of the biggest challenges of being a fast-bowler has always been the battle with a slew of injuries. The kind of workload that a pacer has to bear makes it incredibly difficult for them in the long run.
Josh Hazlewood has been one of the finest fast bowlers in the world right now and continues to deliver consistently across any format of the game.
The RCB quick recovered from a double blow recently and arrived in India just in time ahead of the IPL. Talking on RCB Bold Diaries, Hoff revealed why the art of fast bowling makes one go through flames of incessant struggle. He also revealed the challenges that one needs to brave in order to maintain their longevity in the sport.
Josh said, “Injury is definitely the hardest part of fast bowling and there’s some tough times for sure. I think you have got to come to the realization that it’s part of the game. As a quick, no matter how hard you work sometimes, things are almost going to be out of your control sometimes. It’s not easy missing games, probably Test matches. It really sucks sometimes, when you are away from the team, doing your rehab, they’re the long days to get back. They’re frustrating. You do everything you can to bulletproof your body as best you can, to not be injured but sometimes it just comes your way and you gotta deal with it.”
He further added, “I was actually out with a calf from the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and that actually came good very quickly. I had another hurdle with my hip which actually took a bit longer and obviously quite ready for Champions’ Trophy and probably just made it in time for the IPL. As I said before, I am feeling fresh mentally, fresh physically, and I had a good sort of chunk in the gym, it’s almost like a mini preseason. Ball came out well the other night, hopefully just keep on improving on that and we will go from there.”
