RCB are the front runners to clinch the trophy: Dilip Vengsarkar
Former Indian cricketer and selector, Dilip Vengsarkar tipped Royal Challengers Bangalore to clinch the long-awaited silverware. In an exclusive interview with IANS, he believes the team is well equipped to go the distance this season. "In this T20 format, it is very difficult to say who the front runners will be. But I would say Bangalore is winning it this time because they haven't won it so far."
Vengsarkar added that the inclusion of multidimensional players provides strength and depth to the unit that is worthy enough to put an end to the 13-year wait. "Kohli, AB de Villiers and Yuzvendra Chahal will come good. They have a lot of good players in the squad. Pacer Navdeep Saini bowled extremely well in their first game (against SunRisers Hyderabad). So, I will be interested to see their progress in the tournament, " he said.
The 64-year-old further opined that toss might have a huge bearing on the final outcome of the game, considering the rising concerns of the dew factor. "The dew factor is very important because if there is dew, it becomes tough to grip the ball, especially for the spinners. That's bound to happen. So, you take chances when you win the toss and have to decide what you want to do,” Vengsarkar added.
Having edged past Mumbai Indians in a nail-biting clash, The Royal Challengers will look to keep the winning run intact
