Rahul Dravid provides update on the health status of Indian cricket team members
In the pre-match press conference ahead of the final ODI, Rohit Sharma talked about the viral load pervading through the entire team and that was a major cause of concern for the Indian management. However, India’s head coach Rahul Dravid believes that with 10 days in hand, this should not be an issue for the Men in Blue.
With the World Cup around the corner, Dravid shed some light on the current health status of the players and he believes that there is still ample time for all the players to get fit and get in the groove before the World Cup fever hits the yard.
Talking in the post-match conference, Dravid said, “We have had a few issues with viral going around the group. It was a bit of a balancing act, especially because few guys had to go home due to personal reasons. There was a team leaving for the Asian Games tonight, so some of the guys like Rutu (Ruturaj Gaikwad) and Tilak (Varma) had to go. So, it was a bit of a jugglery that we had to manage in this game.”
He further added, “But no, I'm hoping we have got about a week. I expect everyone to be there in Guwahati when we reach tomorrow, latest by tomorrow night or the morning the next day, we should be full strength. The bug around the group should've cleared up as well. Be nice if that happens.”
India will have a couple of warm-up games ahead of their World Cup campaign kick-starting on the 8th of October. The Men in Blue will be up against England on 30th September and Netherlands on October 3rd before they take on Australia on October 8th at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
