Push our limits - Gautam Gambhir's message to Team India ahead of the Test series against Sri Lanka
India are all set to lock horns with Sri Lanka for a couple of Tests in the latter's backyard. After a staggering hiatus of nine years, Shubman Gill and company will be travelling to Sri Lanka to play the longest format of the game.
Ahead of the Test series, India's head coach Gautam Gambhir welcomed the newcomers into the side with a positive message while also highlighting the nation's objectives for the upcoming fray.
In a video released by BCCI, Gautam Gambhir said, "Guys, welcome everyone. We have got a couple of new guys in. To start with Saransh (Jain), congratulations, you've worked extremely hard to be here. Make sure that you make your family and your country proud whenever you get that opportunity."
He further added, "Secondly, I want to congratulate Auqib (Nabi). You had a phenomenal last season, made J&K win Ranji Trophy which is a great achievement. Congratulations, once again."
Welcoming India's new fielding coach, Subhadeep Ghosh, who is also known as Joy, GG said, "Lastly, I want to welcome Joy as well. He has worked with so many teams for so many years. I'm sure his passion, his commitment will carry this team forward and make sure that his energy levels will help everyone achieve the target which is what we want to do."
He concluded with a message for the team, stating, "Lastly guys, we know what's in front of us. We know what we are playing for. We can do the volume, we can push our limits, we can tick all the boxes. Come 15th morning, whether we are batting first, whether we are bowling first, we're absolutely ready with every answer, every question that's thrown at us and every answer we're ready to give. So make sure we tick all the boxes from now on."
