Prithvi Shaw, Devdutt Padikkal to stay in Sri Lanka for now: Report
After opener Shubman Gill injured himself out of the England tour, the BCCI, through its administrative manager Girish Dongre had requisitioned for two openers as a replacement.
The news led to speculations that the BCCI may pull two players – Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal - from the squad that is touring Sri Lanka to send as replacements.
However, a report in the PTI says that there is no such plan for now to send a player to England in between the Sri Lanka series.
"Prithvi (Shaw) will be staying in Sri Lanka and complete the six-match series till July 26. He has been selected and he should complete the commitments," a senior BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
The source further added that any such move to send players to England will only be taken after the end of the series in Lanka.
"Once the Sri Lanka series is over, possibilities could be explored but nothing as of now," the source said.
