The entire world has been abuzz about the blazing display that Virat Kohli posted against Pakistan, dragging India across the finish line with an emphatic display. Delivering India from almost an ineluctable situation, Virat silenced all his critics with a masterclass, laying waste to the Pakistani bowlers.

Former Indian fast bowler, Zaheer Khan was vocal about how the former Indian captain calmly spearheaded the Indian charge and steered them across the finishing line with significant help from Hardik Pandya and the winning strike from Ravichandran Ashwin.

Talking to Cricbuzz, Zaheer Khan said, “Look, single-handedly winning the game, it's very satisfying for any player and from the situation that the Indian team was. You look at the start which Pakistan bowlers needed to defend this total was ideal, you know losing three, four wickets. After that the crucial partnership with Hardik. Pretty much carried the innings and what was the most special about it was that he was not out. He made sure that he finished the game and that is something which is very important.”

Zaheer himself was a part of the 2011 World Cup-winning Indian squad where he led the Indian bowling significantly. Virat Kohli was also in that team, rubbing shoulders with legends of the game. Little did we know back then that he was going to become one who would spearhead the Indian charge almost single-handedly on countless occasions.
