Karnataka has always been a powerhouse in domestic cricket - they are the only side to achieve a domestic treble twice, the above fact acts as an asseveration to their supremacy in the last few years.

In 2016, Karnataka found a consistent vein in Pavan Deshpande. Born in Dharwad, Pavan was hooked to the game at a very young age. Representing Vultures Cricket Club, the all-rounder continued to string together a number of incredible scores in the division cricket.

Pavan Deshpande made his first-class debut in 2016-17 Ranji Trophy season - a 70-run knock laced with 11 boundaries against Maharashtra in his debut game provided the layout of his potential with the willow. A dominant show in 2017-18 Vijay Hazare Trophy saw him hog the limelight, in which he piled up 310 runs in 8 matches at an average of 51.66. Pavan played a key role in Karnataka's triumphant run in 2017-18 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

On the back of his consistent performances for Karnataka, Pavan Deshpande was acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a base price of 20 Lakhs in 2018 IPL auction.

After a one-year break, Pavan Deshpande marked his return to the Bengaluru franchise. In 2020 IPL auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore acquired him for a base price of INR 20 Lakhs.

Numbers That Matter

  • 426 - Pavan Deshpande has racked up 426 runs in 15 innings at an impressive average of 47.33 in T20s.
  • 180 - The Southpaw has scored 180 boundaries for Karnataka across all formats.
  • 149.57 - Pavan Deshpande has a strike rate of 149.57 in the T20 format.

Pavan Deshpande - The Bankable all-rounder

Since August 2019, the Southpaw has amassed 520 runs from 18 innings garnered with 5 half-centuries across all domestic competitions. Ever since making his first-class debut in 2016, he has been a devout performer for Karnataka and has been an impregnable middle-order batsman of late.

An acumen middle-order batsman coupled with his serviceable off-spin, Pavan Deshpande offers a local flavour to the RCB line-up. The 30-year-old cricketer will look to showcase his all-round dexterities in the IPL when given a chance.
