India were at the receiving end of some serious heat as Australia made merry on day one of the World Test Championship final, with Travis Head and Steve Smith rocking the shores of England with their own brand of feisty batting. Australia managed to pile up 327 on the board for the loss of three as Travis Head stayed unbeaten for 146 while Steve Smith will walk out to bat with his score on 96 on day 2.

India will be hoping that their bowlers pull off a better show on the second day morning to keep them in the hunt as Australia are currently running away with the tie. Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj started the first day with a bang but ran out of steam as Australia grabbed the game by the scruff of its neck.

India’s bowling coach, Paras Mhambrey had his own thoughts about India’s display on the opening day of the series, adding, “Definitely we have an opportunity to make a comeback as there is still seam and cut. In the first hour of tomorrow morning with conditions and freshness on the wicket we can do something.”

He also shed some light on the fact that Umesh Yadav had a bad day in the office but once again he is one of the finest bowlers that India has in their ranks. Mhambrey said, “Umesh Yadav is fine. In terms of bowling I think we could have been a bit more disciplined that’s why we conceded more runs than we could have. We discussed this among our bowlers. We felt that strategy could have been better.”
