It was a magical display from Renuka Singh Thakur and possibly her best one for RCB-W as she fuelled the team’s massive win over the Gujarat Giants in WPL 2024.

Kick-starting the proceedings with an electric spell that first started off with a ripper that removed Beth Mooney’s off stump, and the pacer then beat Phoebe Litchfield post which Richa Ghosh pulled off a terrific stumping to send the Aussie on her way.

Renuka finished with figures of 2/14 as Gujarat Giants could barely find an opening to score runs. Her early breakthroughs were enough to leave Gujarat Giants wobbling early in the fixture, eventually finishing with just 107/7 on the board that proved too little to stop RCB from running away with the game.

Winning the Player of the Match award for her reckoning start in the powerplay, Renuka opened up at length about her injuries and her strong comeback.

Singh said, “I'm very happy, it's been a long time since I have bowled a good spell, especially after the injury. One of my best spells, this. It feels good because I have worked hard a lot and I'm happy the results are showing.”

She concluded by shedding some light on her round the wicket strategy, chiming in with, “I have worked on this a lot, I spoke to my coach Troy [Cooley] after the India series, who asked me to work on this.”
