Official: IPL mega auction to take place on 12th and 13th February in Bengaluru
The Mega IPL auction ahead of the 15th season of the tournament will be held on the 12th and 13th of February in Bengaluru, the official IPL media release has confirmed. 590 Indian and overseas players are set to go under the hammer during the two-day event.
“The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 Player Auction list is out with a total of 590 cricketers set to go under the hammer during the two-day mega auction which will take place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13, 2022,” read the official statement from the IPL media advisory.
Of the 590 players, there are 370 Indian and 220 overseas cricketers who will feature in the auction. Breaking it down further, 228 of the registered players are capped, 355 uncapped, and 7 players from Associate nations.
The players have registered themselves under 8 different reserve price brackets starting from INR 20 Lakhs and going up to INR 2 crores. 48 players have registered under the highest INR 2 crores bracket, according to the official IPL media release.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will go into the auction with a purse of INR 57 crores. Having retained two Indian internationals in Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj, and the maverick Australian Glenn Maxwell, the team management at the auction table will have 22 slots to fill, of which a maximum of 7 slots can be used up for overseas players.
A maximum of 217 players can be bought overall by the 10 teams. The complete list of teams and their auction purse with the number of slots left to be filled up can be found below:
