Obviously I'm going to go with India: Zaheer Khan on India's chances of making it to the final
India is all set to kickstart their T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan on Sunday as the two teams meet in Melbourne. With the stakes higher than ever, the anticipation has already reached fever pitch, and the Men in Blue would be desperate to learn from their mistakes that happened a year back and forge a different destiny.
Former Indian left-arm seamer Zaheer Khan opened up on India’s chances of making the grand finale of the tournament. Despite last year’s slip-up, Zaheer believes that the team has learnt a lot from their mistakes and is willing to put their best foot forward.
Talking to Cricbuzz about the probable finalists, Zaheer said, “Obviously I'm going to go with India. Yes, there have been some talks of some key players, Bumrah being injured and what's going to happen with the bowling but still I feel it with the consistency they've shown for the last few years, I think definitely are going to be the contender to be in the finals.”
India will have their task cut out as they will be up against Pakistan in the opener. With a couple of important names missing from the line-up, they would like to get the momentum going their way early in the tournament, a factor that didn’t click in the last edition, eliminating the Men in Blue prematurely. This will also be the first time that India will be playing an ICC tournament under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.
