After being pegged back by a slew of injuries during the Test series, India were dealt with another blow after Navdeep Saini had to limp off the field during Australia’s first innings of the Brisbane Test.

Now reports have surfaced that the Indian medical team is working on war footing to get the pacer ready for the second innings.

India fielded four pacers and a spinner in the last Test, but had to manage on the second day of the Test without the RCB pacer.

ANI quoted a source in the know of development, “The medical team is working on Saini. He has a groin injury, but they are trying their best to ensure that he can take the field in the second innings.”

Earlier BCCI had informed that the pacer had gone for scans after a pain in his groin.

In Saini's absence, T Natarajan and Shardul Thakur stepped up along with Mohammed Siraj to help India control the Aussie charge on the second day.

Saini will now hope that the Indian batters spend substantial time in the middle on the third day of the Test to help him recover well before he can step on to the field for one last time in the series.
