Lucknow Super Giants clash with the Gujarat Titans in a battle for an edge in the race for the top two
In a battle of two reckoning forces in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, the Lucknow Super Giants and the Gujarat Titans will go head-on, hoping to establish themselves firmly in the race for the top four.
The Lucknow Super Giants will be coming to this fixture on the back of a thrilling win against the Rajasthan Royals as they rode high on Kyle Mayers and KL Rahul’s decent start to put on 144. Their bowlers fought back in clinical fashion to get the better of the Rajasthan Royals as the attack was led by Avesh Khan with a haul of three wickets while Marcus Stoinis claimed a brace too.
The Gujarat Titans were also humbled in a close encounter as they were bested by Rajasthan Royals in a modest-scoring encounter that went down to the wire. David Miller and Shubman Gill packed a powerful punch with the bat but it was Mohammed Shami who was in brilliant touch, claiming three wickets while Rashid Khan bagged a couple.
This will be a battle of two forces who are desperately looking for a victory as a loss can be a denting blow to their aspirations of finishing in the top two, which currently seems to be the solitary motive of the two sides.
