Lot to take back from this season – Smriti Mandhana on defeat to UP Warriorz

RCB did feature in another thriller for sure but eventually in the end, the Royal Challengers fell short of the finish line agonizingly as they could only manage to tot up 213 runs in response to UPW’s 225. RCB skipper, Smriti Mandhana had a bit of a rough day in office. Talking in the post-match presentation, Mandhana opened up on the positive approach of the Royal Challengers ever since the start of the chase. She also praised Georgia Voll on her phenomenal innings while underscoring Richa Ghosh and Sneh Rana’s scintillating show with the bat.
Talking about the approach, Mandhana said, “I think they batted really positively from the first ball and sometimes in the last game of the season they come out in a different mood, that's what happened with UP today. But we pulled off quite well in the last 3-4 overs. Credit to Voll for the way she batted was brilliant. The way we started we thought it was going to be a good season but in the last 5 games we could not live up to the expectations which we had from ourselves.”
She further added, “We played some good cricket in patches, we could not live up to some moments and we lost a lot of moments in the match. Definitely a lot to take back from this season. It was big to lose out the top three wicket takers of last season for us, losing them post auctions was huge but the replacements were really good, the way we started the tournament I thought we would be able to take the momentum.”
Mandhana concluded with a word of praise for Richa Ghosh who blasted a phenomenal 69 and Sneh Rana’s whose last-minute heroics almost flipped the game on its head, stating, “Lots of positives; Richa the way she batted today and really happy with Sneh Rana, came in as replacement and to do that was terrific to watch.”
