Little contribution from everyone can make huge difference – Rohit Sharma

India had a challenging day out against Pakistan as they secured a thrilling victory with the game going down the wire. The batters couldn’t really deliver the payload barring Rishabh Pant but it was an absolutely sensational display from the bowlers, spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah that saw the Men in Blue imposing themselves firmly in the fixture.

Rohit Sharma did get off to a fine start but couldn’t capitalize on the early gung-ho as an attempted strike over deep mid-wicket found its way into the hands of Haris Rauf. However, his contribution as the skipper of the side was sensational as he rotated the bowlers effectively that saw India keep Pakistan at bay despite a low total on the board.

Talking at the post-match presentation, Rohit said, “We didn't bat well enough. Halfway through our innings we were in a good position. We didn't put enough partnership there and fell short with the bat. We spoke about every run matters on a pitch like that. There was enough on the pitch. Was a good wicket to be honest, compared to the last game.”

Heaping praises on the bowling line-up, Rohit added, “With a bowling lineup like that you feel confident to do the job. Halfway through the stage when they were batting, we got everyone together and said that if it can happen to us, it can happen to them. Little contribution from everyone can make a huge difference.”

Reserving the highest form of plaudits for Bumrah, Rohit stated, “Bumrah's going from strength to strength. We all know what he can do. Not going to talk too much about him. Want him to be in that mindset throughout the WC. He's a genius, we all know that.”

He concluded with a message for the fans who made it a blockbuster show in New York as well, stating, “Crowd was superb. They never disappoint wherever we play. I'm sure they'll be going home with a big smile. It's just the start, we have a long way to go.”
