KL Rahul suffers injury scare on the eve of India’s second Test against Bangladesh

Just ahead of India’s all-important second Test against Bangladesh where KL Rahul has been handed over the onus of leading the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma, there are ill omens for the Indian cricket fans.

While batting in the nets on the eve of the second Test match, Rahul copped a blow on his hand. Even though India's batting coach, Vikram Rathour hinted that Rahul’s injury wasn’t serious and he should most likely be available for the series finale at Mirpur, concerns remain if reports are to be believed.

In the pre-match press conference, Vikram Rathour said, “It doesn't look serious. He seems to be fine. Hopefully he'll be okay. The doctors are looking at it, but hopefully he'll be okay."

As reported by ESPNCricinfo, Rathour was delivering throwdowns to the Indian skipper for the series when the ball bobbled up awkwardly with Rahul sustaining the blow on his hand. He was instantly seen rubbing the injured part to alleviate the impact that may have caused him some early discomfort.

In case Rahul is unavailable in the second Test, that would mark the first chapter of Cheteshwar Pujara’s captaincy for the Indian cricket team in the longest format of the game. Pujara was in imperious form in the series opener where he hammered a 90 in the first innings while smashing a century in the second to help India rack up important runs in their bid to drub the hosts.
