Kapil Dev heaps massive praise on Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav has been in swashbuckling form leading the charge for India in the shortest format of the game. He had a bright start to 2023 after smashing a half-century and a ton in the series against the Sri Lankans, with a special masterclass in the third contest of the fray.

The ultimate praise for any batter is when he is being muttered under the same breath alongside that of Vivian Richards, Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

Speaking to ABP News, former Indian skipper, Kapil Dev had to iterate how great SKY’s recent knocks have been and the kind of impact that he has created with his stunning presence in the Indian line-up, especially in the shortest format of the game.

Kapil said, “Sometimes I am at a loss of words on how to describe his knock. When we see Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, we feel that someday there will be a player who will compel us to think he is also part of that list. There is indeed a lot of talent in India. And the kind of cricket he plays, that lap shot the one over fine leg, then that leaves the bowler frightened because he can stand and hit a six over mid-on and mid-wicket.”

He further added, “That is what makes it difficult for the bowlers because he is able to pick the line and length consistently. I have seen great batters like De Villiers, Vivian Richards, Sachin, Virat, Ricky Ponting, but very few can hit the ball as cleanly as him. Hats off to Suryakumar Yadav. This kind of players come only once in a century.”
