Just wanted to believe in myself – Deepti Sharma
The Indian women put up an excellent display in Ahmedabad as they rocked New Zealand to clinch the three-match ODI series by a 2-1 margin. Deepti Sharma won the Player of the Series award for her incredible all-round performance, claiming six wickets and scoring 56 runs from just two innings.
Talking at the post-match presentation, Deepti Sharma said that it was just simplicity and the will to do good that got her rolling in the series. She also emphasized on her self-belief and how she tweaked the deliveries in order to get the better of the White Ferns.
Deepti said, “I enjoy myself on the field and that’s what takes the pressure off me. Try to keep it simple. Just wanted to believe in myself, such matches happen so was just thinking about how I can contribute.”
She concluded by talking about the conditions, stating, “Had faith in myself and was able to do even better today. Wicket was such that it was skidding nicely sometimes, as a bowler you had to vary pace. Needed to consider how the batters were playing as well, varied my pace accordingly. Mindset will be the same, would like to do even better in future matches.”
