In a massive update of reprieve, Team India will have the added likes of Jasprit Bumrah in their line-up as the ODI series against Sri Lanka beckons. The Indian quick was out of action for a while after copping a stress related fracture on his back during the home series against Australia just ahead of the T20 World Cup.

In an official statement released by the BCCI, it said, “Bumrah was out of cricketing action since September 2022 and was also ruled out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup due to a back injury. The pacer has undergone rehabilitation and has been declared fit by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He will be joining the Team India ODI squad soon.”

When India’s squad for the Sri Lanka series was announced, there were doubts about his availability, especially with the thought in mind that he was once again not going to be rushed back into the side. However, with the fitness report giving the ace pacer the all clear, India will be happy to welcome back Bumrah in a time where they are building for the ODI World Cup at home later in the year.

As per the inside sources of BCCI as reported by ESPNCricinfo, Bumrah’s inclusion was discussed in the review meeting that was convened on the 1st of January. The team management is actually keen on Bumrah building his full rhythm back as India steams into the World Cup in November with eyes on the prize. The return of Bumrah now makes it a star-studded line-up for the Indians against their neighbours except for Ravindra Jadeja.

India’s updated squad for Sri Lanka ODIs: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya (VC), Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh.
