Jasprit Bumrah is world class – Brett Lee's ultimate praise for ace Indian quick
Jasprit Bumrah has been an absolute phenomenon ever since his return from the injury and in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he is the leading wicket-taker, claiming 21 wickets from the first three Test matches - leaving a significant gap between him and his closest pursuers, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins who have claimed 14 wickets each.
Former Australian fast-bowler, Brett Lee, expressed how mightily impressed with Bumrah’s flair and while talking on Fox Sports, he highlighted the fact the Indian quick almost single-handedly has been making all the difference between the two countries. He also pointed out that the absence of Mohammed Shami has somehow been a bother for Bumrah as he has missed out on a key bowling partner.
Lee said, “He is world class, Jasprit Bumrah. Unfortunately, they had no Mohammed Shami, but I think the backing of Mohammed Siraj — there has been a bit of conjecture around him — but I think he has bowled really well.”
He further added, “In my opinion, they have an attack that has some good pace bowlers, but the reason why people say or think he is shouldering the whole load of the attack is that he is so good.”
He concluded by saying, “He is miles ahead of any other bowler, and that is no disrespect to the other bowlers going around, but that is how good he is.” It is well-known that the Australian surfaces have always been conducive for the pacers. However, it has been Bumrah’s consistency that has seen him claim 53 Test wickets Down Under while registering an average of 9.81 against Australia’s top seven.
