It’s not like we talk 24×7 every day – Sunil Chhetri shares insights on his special bond with Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli and Sunil Chhetri share a robust camaraderie, and the two have oftentimes been vocal about the bond that they share. From talking cricket and football to sharing the stands and frames alike, the duo’s chemistry has a separate fanbase altogether.

Over the years, the duo has had each other’s back through their respective troughs and crests and they have also shared many memorable moments in front and off the camera as well. The mutual respect between the two is extremely high and the fact that they represent the apex franchise of Bengaluru in their individual sport apart from being inspirations to millions also speaks volumes of their blazing brilliance.

Talking on the show called ‘In the Stands’, Chhetri said on their bond, “We talk about a lot of normal things. We share a lot of laughter. We share a lot of jokes and a lot of funny stuff. I have had a lot of deep and meaningful chats. It’s not like we talk 24×7 every day. There are phases when we do not talk for months but the best part is that he understands and so do I.”

He further added, “But, we catch up exactly from where we left it. The few times when I have felt the heat of who I am and the need to perform and the few times that he has felt the heat of who he is and the need to perform, is exactly when we have chatted. He understands that not everyone can understand what we are going through and it just hits the right note.”

Virat Kohli is currently a part of the Indian squad that is playing the first Test against West Indies in Dominica, while Sunil Chhetri recently completed the SAFF Championship, propelling India to their ninth triumph in the tournament as they beat Kuwait in the final via a tie-breaker.
