In the first T20I between India and Bangladesh, apart from Arshdeep Singh and Mayank Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy also enthralled the fans with an incredible performance that saw him claiming a three-fer against the visitors.

Chakravarthy claimed the important wickets of Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali and Rishad Hossain to effectively break the skeleton of their batting unit.

In an interview with Murali Kartik along the sidelines after the conclusion of the match, Varun said that it feels incredible and almost like a rebirth to represent the Indian cricket team after a gap of almost three years.

He also talked about the challenges that he braved methodically to come back to the Indian side after that infamous T20 World Cup outing against Pakistan.

Talking about his return to international cricket on the back of an incredible IPL season, as quoted by ESPNCricinfo, Varun said, “After three long years and… it was definitely emotional for me, and it feels nice to be back in the Blues, it feels like a rebirth.”

He then highlighted the challenges that stood in his way, stating, “There have been many [challenges]. Once you are not in the Indian side, people tend to write you off very easily. You need to stay at the highest level, again and again you need to keep knocking the door. Thankfully, this time it happened and hopefully I can keep continuing my good work."

Crediting Ravichandran Ashwin for his incredible support in the latest iteration of TNPL, Varun added, “After IPL, I played a few tournaments and one of those was the TNPL. It's a very good tournament, and high standard [of cricket] also. That's a place where I worked a lot, with Ash bhai [Ashwin]. We won the competition also, and that gave me the confidence here, because it was good preparation for me for this series.”

Talking about his future plans and his methods, Varun stated, “I just want to stick to the process because that's what I have been following in the IPL also. So I don't want to go over and beyond what's there right now. I just want to stay in the present. That's why I don't want to think too much or express too much. I thought it could have gone my way, but I can't complain. But, yeah, thankful to god.”
