Ishan Kishan struggled vehemently against the touring Caribbean where he barely connected with the deliveries that he was being subjected to. Mostly they seemed far-fetched from him and he was trying to reach them desperately instead of playing them comfortably.

He did show signs of returning to his form in the last ODI but it was still lightyears away from what he is known to the world. In the first match against Sri Lanka, he came unspooled at his magnificent best that saw the visitors being blown away out of contention.

Speaking about his prized knock against Sri Lanka, he effusively heaped praises on how seniors like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma alongside Rahul Dravid helped him to get back to his stride.

Kishan stitched together a fiery 89 from just 56 balls that propelled India to a fine 199 with another impressive knock from Shreyas Iyer. Securing a 62-run win against Sri Lanka, Ishan said, “Always a senior player would want a youngster to be in a good head space. Be it (coach) Rahul (Dravid) Bhai, Virat (Kohli) Bhai, or Rohit Bhai, they all have passed this phase. They are aware how we feel when we don't perform well," Ishan said at the post-match media interaction.”

He further added, “I didn't do well against the West Indies. They always told me that they know about my talent and what I can do for the team. 'We trust in you. Never ever you think that we are doubting your abilities.' "

Shedding light on the pieces of advice shared with him by his seniors, “They always help you out with small, small things be it your batting grip or the attacking mindset."

He also talked about how he focused his attention on coming out of the bad phase, citing, “After playing so much cricket, you get used to the situation. Tough times will come but it's very important to be in the situation. You don't get too excited when you score runs.”

He concluded by saying, “Same goes when you don't perform. So you need to be in a very good space. You need to talk to your seniors because they are much more experienced than us. So it's very helpful when I sit with Rohit Bhai for a conversation.”
