IPL introduces mid-season transfer of players
The 13th edition of the IPL will kick-off on 29th March where Mumbai Indians take on the Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The forthcoming season of the IPL will see another new rule put into place. The franchises will now be able to sign players from the other franchises at the mid-season point.
The last edition of the IPL saw in-loan transfers of uncapped players at the halfway phase of the tournament, but none of the teams utilized it. This will be the first instance where capped players can be loaned during the halfway stage of the tournament if they meet the required criteria.
The Mechanism of the in-loan system
- The franchises will be allowed to sign a player from other franchises at the halfway mark of the season.
- The player should not have played more than two matches till the halfway mark to be eligible for the transfer.
- The transfer rule will come into effect once all the teams have played 7 matches each.
From introducing the concussion substitute rule to the third umpire calling the no-ball, the BCCI has provided a whole new makeover to the league. With less than 25 days to go for the IPL, the preparations are in full swing and have reached its peak. The Royal Challengers Bangalore begins their pre-season camp on the 21st of March, where a majority of International and Domestic players will be in attendance at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.
