The last month witnessed the announcement of retentions by the various IPL franchises that threw fuel to the fire of anticipations and excitement. Going by the latest reports on Cricbuzz, the communique for the IPL auction has been finalized.

Even though the official announcement is yet to arrive, Cricbuzz has confirmed that the IPL officials have called each franchise to apprise them of the dates of the upcoming auction. As per the sources, the call was done on December 23rd, Thursday. The dates for the hallowed auctions are 12th and 13th February.

The reports also suggest that despite the auction dates colliding with an international affair between India and West Indies, yet the fiesta will be going forth. The second ODI match between India and West Indies is slated to be played on February 12th in Kolkata.

A franchise official told Cricbuzz, “It has been clarified to us that the match and auction are two different things and both will go ahead.” The reports also stated that Star Sports was also informed about the same and a reply from them is also awaited.

The BCCI has already shared the communications with the various international boards and state associations to send in the names of the players for the auctions by January 17th. The mega-event will be one of its kind, starring a 1000-members. Out of the extensive list, only 200-250 players will be making the likeliest cut for the last edition of the mega-auction.

The IPL officials have also informed the franchises that a pre-auction briefing will be shared with the teams and they must be present at the venue by 11th February evening.
