IPL 2023 schedule announced; RCB to begin campaign against MI at the Chinnaswamy

The schedule for the 2023 season of IPL has been announced. For all the fans who have been away from the Chinnaswamy, it simply couldn’t have been any better as RCB will be playing their opening fixture on 2nd of April at 7:30 PM in their home against the reckoning Mumbai Indians that will witness an unparalleled spectacle as the fans return to Chinnaswamy after a staggering 3 years 11 months and 28 days. The Chennai Super Kings will be taking the yard in the curtain-raiser against Gujarat Titans on the 31st of March.


The group stages will comprise 70 games that will be played between March 31st to May 21st. The ten venues that have so far been picked include Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Mohali - some matches will be played in Guwahati (Royals' second home), and Dharamsala (Kings' second home). Both the curtain-raiser and the grand finale will be played in Ahmedabad with the summit clash being slated to happen on May 28th.

There will be a total of 18 double headers for the season. The two games on double header days are scheduled to begin at 3:30 P.M. and 7:30 P.M. respectively. RCB will play 4 games in the afternoon - 2 at home and as many away.

The Royal Challengers have drawn Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings in their group against whom they will be going up only once in the league phase. The remainder of the teams will be playing two fixtures against the Faf-led team. The Men in Red and Gild will be playing against the Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans at home, while they will be up against Sunrisers and Punjab Kings away.

RCB will play 6 of their first 8 games at home post which the team will be on the road for five consecutive games. The league phase will conclude at home where RCB take on defending champions, Gujarat Titans on the 21st of May.
