Thank you 12th Man army for staying connected throughout. For now, we will be signing off for the day. It was fun bringing to you all the latest updates of the IPL mega-auction. We hope to see you soon again as the season looms closer than ever. Take care and stay safe. #Mission22Begins.

Royal Challengers Bangalore managed to rope in the likes of Siddharth Kaul next. A seasoned campaigner with a knack for performing under pressure, he can be the perfect support for Siraj and Hazlewood in the middle overs. Luvnith Sisodia, one of Karnataka's rising sensations was also bagged for his base price of Rs 20 lakh. In a last moment swoop, the Challengers splashed big to land a fine English talent in the form of David Willey. He was wrested for his base price of Rs 2 crore. As the auction met its conclusion, there were countless emotions running wild, with all of you came together to back our efforts of laying down the building blocks of the forthcoming year. We bought 19 players and are still left with Rs 1.55 crore.

Karnataka picked their first local lad in Aneeshwar Gautam, a crucial element of the world-conquering Indian U19 team. He would be making significant ripples across the following years to come. RCB's next pick was Karn Sharma, a man who is dotingly connected with the winner's luck for an IPL team. Keeping the comical side apart, he is an unpredictable wrist bowler who can add depth to the spinning department of RCB.

In follow-up to the last comment, we bought in another big name in the form of Jason Behrendorff. The lanky Australian fast bowler was purchased for a meagre Rs 75 lakh. This move was followed by another homecoming as the Challengers bought back, Suyash Prabhudessai for Rs 30 lakh. Another exciting Indian name followed as RCB snapped up Chama Milind who has been flying high with a six-wicket haul in his latest outing.

Hello 12th Man Army, so two rollicking days of team-building finally met its denouement. There were a few cheers and a few heartbreaks, a few thrills and a few misses, but at the end of the day, the building blocks for the new year were laid. After a slow start to the second day, we put in a staunch shift. Our first purchase of the day was Mahipal Lomror. He was followed by a rambunctious purchase of Finn Allen. Adding depth to the middle-order, Caribbean biffer, Sherfane Rutherford was bought for his base price.

David Willey was Royal Challengers Bangalore’s final pick of the 2022 IPL Mega-Auction. The English bowling all-rounder was snapped up by the Challengers for his base price of Rs 2 crore. His T20 credentials brag about a staggering 203 wickets at a decent economy rate of 7.9. He also has decent batting experience in his kitty that has seen him rack up 2943 runs in the shortest format of the game at a staggering strike rate of 141.08. The batting depth for Royal Challengers Bangalore keeps on extending further and further.

One of Karnataka’s very own, Luvnith Sisodia was snapped up by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a base price of Rs 20 lakh. Sisodia is a talented wicket-keeping batter and is termed as one of the most glittering aspects of Indian cricket’s posterity. He managed to fire home a couple of decent knocks that starred the likes of 38 and 29.

An experienced fast bowler in the fabric of Indian Premier League, Siddharth Kaul has 58 IPL scalps in his repertoire. More importantly, he has a decent economy rate of 8.59. The last two years has seen him putting in decent efforts and helping a shaky Sunrisers Hyderabad to salvage important points in an otherwise ailing campaign. RCB bought him for a base price of Rs 75 lakh.

Ladies and gentlemen, for the final picks of the day, we will be seeing the icon himself supervising the auction, Hugh Edmeades.

Hello 12th Man army, we tried our very best to land our local lad, Karun Nair. The war went on till the very end. Sadly, the momentum didn't really go our way. We are still hanging in there for a few more sizzling picks as the round of accelerated auctions swing forth.

Karn Sharma is a name that has gone rigorously through the ups and downs of the sport. His career in the IPL has been everything but a listless journey. In a bevy of conventional spinners, his wrist spin bagged the limelight for quite a while. Not only is he a decent spinner but he can also hammer a few crucial cameos towards the end of the innings. He is an experienced campaigner and has previously flourished under the cosh. Royal Challengers Bangalore claimed him for his base price at Rs 50 lakh.

Hello 12th Man army, are you excited for the upcoming round of accelerated auction? well, to add to your excitement, let us tell you that our Australian expressman, Josh Hazlewood has rode roughshod over Sri Lanka in the second T20 of a 5-match bilateral affair. Defending 164, he prised out stellar figures of 3 for 22 from his 4 overs. He was also shouldered with the crucial onus of bowling in the super over. He came out in even more blazing colours as he defended a modest 9 runs successfully leaving Sri Lanka 4 runs short of levelling the series. In the same game, our another pick, Wanindu Hasiranga claimed a brace of scalps and added 13 runs from just 9 balls.

An important name in the world conquering squad of India, Aneeshwar Gautam will be joining the illustrious ranks of Royal Challengers Bangalore for his base price of Rs 20 lakh. The young man spun his way through a formidable Irish force that came on the back of another youth list-A performance where his brace left the Caribbean colts reeling. He is also a decent striker of the ball and can add some crucial runs to the fold. With a promise of high potential, the Bengaluru lad is someone whom the Royal Challengers have secured for a bright future.

When it comes to exciting Indian names, Chama Milind is one such unearthed potential. He rocked Uttar Pradesh with a clinical fifer that saw him leaking only 8 runs while the latest clash that he was a part of against Jharkhand, he managed to claim a staggering 6 wickets. His credentials also brag about a hattrick against Tamil Nadu. He has previously been snared by Delhi Daredevils who have been rechristened as Delhi Capitals. His T20 economy rate is 7.62 which is deemed as a pretty fine figure with 83 wickets. RCB added him to their arsenal for a modest Rs 25 lakh.

As the demands for a middle-order batter kept on growing, the Challengers needed a response. What would have been better anyway than a bloke who was already a part of the family in the precursor edition? A batting all-rounder who houses a decent flair for some explosive middle-order batting and can also chip in with a couple of crucial overs, Suyash Prabhudessai was roped in for a sum of Rs 30 lakh. Welcome back to the family, Suyash.

If the presence of Mohammed Siraj and Josh Hazlewood wasn’t excellent enough, add to it the menacing moniker of Australian quick, Jason Behrendorff. Towering at 1.93 metres, Behrendorff can easily kiss the deck hard at 140 plus kays on a regular basis. He has a lethal toe-crushing yorker that he often produces in the crucial death overs. Add to it the frequent sweet-chin music that can instil a good deal of fear in the one facing him. Royal Challengers Bangalore wrested him for a modest Rs 75 lakh that was marked as his base price. Another steal after Finn Allen?

Sherfane Rutherford isn’t one of the most dynamic names when it comes to pyrotechnics. However, he is an exceptionally reliable name in the middle-order. In case of a landslide, he can arrest the downward momentum and provide the much-needed platform for a blitzkrieg to follow. Also, if he gets his eyes in, what follows is nothing short of an imperious onslaught. The Challengers bagged him for an economical base price of Rs 1 crore.

An exciting top-order batter, Finn Allen will be joining the ranks of the Royal Challengers for the first time in the tournament’s glittering antiquity. The most important aspect of his T20 career is his staggering strike rate of 190.24. He can also keep wickets if his team needs him to. His inclusion to the squad will help the already bloated top-order of RCB. The Challengers bought the explosive Blackcap for a meagre amount of Rs 80 lakh. Daylight robbery, maybe?

Mahipal Lomror has been a solid support at the tail end of the Rajasthan Royals batting order for the last couple of seasons. His recent exploits in the domestic circuit that starred the likes of 69, 55, 46, 85 and 101 have been pretty blazing too that piqued a lot of interest as his name went up at the auction table. The Challengers had to dig deep to land the youngster but they were persistent enough to bring him to the table. He was bought by the Challengers for Rs 95 lakh.

Hello folks, it has been a while since we have caught up. It has so far been a reticent day in the auctions. Stay connected for more updates.

Wishing you a great night ahead. We will once again be catching up with you at 12 pm tomorrow. Till then, take care and keep on believing in the Challengers. #Mission 2022 begins.

As the first day of the IPL 2022 mega-auction met its conclusion, history was in the making. 10 players were bought for a staggering Rs 10 crore plus figure, a feat that was the first in the making. Royal Challengers Bangalore pushed hard for the best possible picks and ended up with a couple of mind-blowing buys namely Faf du Plessis and Josh Hazlewood. Coming to the Indian ranks, they were able to bring in experienced wicket-keeping batter, Dinesh Karthik. A couple of young names were also roped in the form of Akash Deep and Anuj Rawat. They were able to bring back Wanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel to consolidate their bowling ranks.

Akash Deep was the latest inclusion to the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad as the opening day is slowly heading to a close. He is still to get significant chances but can be a real thorn in the flesh of the opposition, given his eye for scalps. He impressed heavily against Baroda with a three-fer display and also left Tamil Nadu reeling at ground zero with another triptych of scalps. Akash was reintroduced to the RCB ranks for a meagre Rs 20 lakh.

If you were expecting a pompous introduction, maybe you wouldn’t be getting it when it comes to Anuj Rawat. But the knock that set himself apart from the others was the debut innings of 71 against Assam. Being incipient in the wee days of his cricketing career, he already has a first-class batting average of 40. Even though he is still to gain traction, yet he has already shown glimpses of promise in his domestic days. Royal Challengers Bangalore swooped him in for Rs 3.40 crore to bolster their wicket-keeping ranks with some solid striking flair.

Shahbaz Ahmed stunned everyone with some captivating spin in the precursor edition of the tournament that left Sunrisers Hyderabad entangled in a mystery from which they never recovered. A decent slow left arm orthodox bowler, Shabaz Ahmed can also put in a few crucial runs in the end. He will be a valuable addition to the squad given his ability to prise out a wicket or a two in the middle overs. Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him for a price of Rs 2.4 crore.

[8:00 PM] Hello 12th Man Army, it's been a while since we caught up. Another quick rundown for you about the legion of excellence that we have been trying to build for the upcoming season. The names that have already been enlisted include the illustrious likes of Dinesh Karthik, Josh Hazlewood, Harshal Patel, Faf du Plessis, and Wanindu Hasaranga. Add to that the fiery likes of Glenn Maxwell, Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj.

[6:50 PM] Ladies and gentlemen, in another fascinating development, our first pick at the auction, Faf du Plessis hammered home a blistering 101 from just 54 deliveries in the Bangladesh Premier League. He smoked a staggering 12 fours and 3 astronomical strikes to uplift the Comilla Victorians to a fine 182. Are you all set for the storm to come home in the RCB colours?

The face of Australia’s express bowling trident, Josh Hazlewood will be donning the Royal Challengers Bangalore jersey for the first time. The lanky fast bowler is capable of generating some searing heat that would pen nightmares for the batters. Breathing fire consistently at 140 plus clicks, Hazlewood can be an absolute menace for the Challengers with his arcing knack for the timbre and also the perfect partner for Mohammed Siraj. He came at a price of Rs 7.75 crore.

Sanjay Bangar, head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore, sang significant paeans for Harshal Patel, claiming that the medium pacer was an instrumental factor in uplifting RCB in the precursor edition of the tournament. He also shed some light into the ploy behind going for Hasaranga. He made it clear that Hasaranga was bought as an all-rounder and not just a bowler. He will play a perfect support for the Challengers towards the tail with the bat alongside his enigmatic spin.

KKR’s former captain, Dinesh Karthik, the man who was responsible for India’s incredible win against Bangladesh in the Nidahas Trophy final, will be donning the RCB jersey for the second time. An incredibly fine wicket-keeper and a decent striker of the ball who can brew a storm if he gets going, Karthik stirred the paddles for quite a significant number of times. Royal Challengers Bangalore wrested him from the jaws of Chennai Super Kings after an intense bidding war for Rs 5.50 crore.

[3:47 PM] A man who left the touring Indian batters entangled in a web of his magical spin, Wanindu Hasaranga has established himself as a vital cog of the Sri Lankan squad. Even though the number of opportunities that came his way were handful, yet his presence in the squad ensures some economical bowling in the crucial middle-overs with a couple of wickets, leaving the counterparts rethinking their entire strategy. Royal Challengers Bangalore snapped him up for Rs 10.75 crore after an intense war with Punjab Kings.

Going by the latest updates, as Hugh Edmeades will be needing rest, presenter Charu Sharma will be taking over the mantle to conduct the IPL 2022 Auction momentarily.

As reported by Cricbuzz, Hugh Edmeades has been doing fine. As far as the updates go, he suffered a physical fall and nothing internal has been reported.

Lunch was declared early after an unfortunate collapse of the auctioneer, Hugh Edmeades. Royal Challengers Bangalore has managed to snap up Faf du Plessis and Harshal Patel already and are the favourites to land Wanindu Hasiranga with a leading bid of Rs 10.25 crore, still waiting to be paralleled.

[1:55 PM] The first Indian bowler in the glittering antiquity of the IPL to claim 32 wickets, Harshal Patel was snapped up by RCB for Rs 10.75 crore. He was in destructive form in IPL 2021 where he left the batters derailed from their element even when they manifested themselves in their most intimidating avatar. He is also a decent striker of the ball and can rack up a few important runs in the end. A fine death-over medium-fast bowler, Patel will once again be shining in the most flamboyant livery whenever the Challengers will need a partnership broken or an empire toppled.

[1:13 PM] Mike Hesson, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s boss, quoted that Faf du Plessis will be an excellent pick, considering the blistering batting that he brings along with himself. His versatility will be allowing the Challengers to use him as a crucial piece of the ever-evolving struggle. He was also happy about the way RCB has gone so far.

[1:11 PM] Former RCB all-rounder, Chris Morris stated that the purchase of Faf du Plessis will be adding a boatload of expertise at the top. Faf’s inclusion will also be bringing out the big guns early to dominate the powerplay.

[12:45 PM] A leading moniker of the shortest format of the sport and a man whose hands are safer than your houses, Faf du Plessis will be joining the ranks of Challengers for the first time. An experienced right-handed batter who can ace any bowler in the world, display exemplary strokeplay and control will be leading the batting-order of the Challengers in their new quest. The South African opener played a crucial role in Chennai’s title-campaign in 2021. His addition to the side at a price of Rs 7 crore will be a massive boost to a side whose title quest will be renewed with new verve and vigour.
