Injury woes for Team India in Sydney Test
India’s battle with injuries on Australia tour continued further as two more players Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja suffered blows while batting on the 3rd day of the Sydney Test.
Pant was hit while attempting to pull a short ball from Pat Cummins. Physio was called immediately and Pant’s left arm was bandaged. The injury led to a break in concentration and the left-hander departed soon after edging a drive to the slip cordon. Later, when India took field, Wriddhiman Saha donned the gloves as Pant had to go for scans.
Jadeja, on the other hand, was trying to fend a short one from Mitches Starc when he was hit near the thumb on his bowling arm. Although, Jadeja continued batting after receiving attention from the physio, he was taken to for the scans later, the BCCI informed via a tweet.
The two injuries add to India’s long-list injuries which have been troubling them on the tour. Before the start of the tour, Ishant Sharma was ruled out due to an injury and Rohit Sharma had to miss the first two Tests. Later Mohammed Shami injured himself during the first Test, while Umesh Yadav was ruled out of the series after suffering an injury during the second Test.
