India Women to play their first Pink Ball Test against Australia
Indian Women’s team will play its first-ever Pink Ball Test later this year, announced BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Thursday.
Knowing how much this Indian team cherishes challenges, we have no doubt they’d be saying #ChallengeAccepted.
"Taking forward our commitment towards women's cricket, I am extremely pleased to announce that Team India @BCCIwomen will play in their first-ever pink ball day-night Test later this year in Australia," Jay Shah tweeted.
This will only be the second Day-Night Test in the history of women’s cricket. The first one was played between England and Australia back in 2017 in Sydney.
This is also the first time since 2006 that India will play a Test in Australia. The two teams have played 9 Tests so far. Australia have won four of them, while five have been drawn.
The team is currently getting ready to leave for England where they will play one Tests, three ODIs and as many T20Is.
The Test match against England will be Indian women’s first long-format game since 2014. Their opponent England played their last Test in 2019 in the Ashes.
