India suffer heavy defeat against South Africa to concede 2-0 series whitewash
India fell into the lap of the inevitable as South Africa outmuscled the hosts on the final day of the Test, securing the bragging rights which was theirs for the taking. Starting the day at 27/2, India lost their nightwatchman, Kuldeep Yadav (5) to Simon Harmer.
Dhruv Jurel (2) couldn’t add much to India’s tally either as Harmer bolstered his tally further. Sudharsan got into a blockathon but hardly found any support from the other end until Ravindra Jadeja arrived at the center.
Jadeja (54) was only India’s second half-centurion throughout the tournament as Yashasvi Jaiswal got the first which came in the first innings of the second Test. Unfortunately, Jadeja didn’t get any support at all from the other end with India eventually bundled out for 140, conceding a staggering 408 runs defeat.
Marco Jansen won the Player of the Match award for his all-round performance in the first innings while Simon Harmer secured the Player of the Series award for his overall haul of 17 wickets. India will be returning to action on Sunday where they take on South Africa in the first ODI of the three-match series.
