India should look to add Yuzvendra Chahal in the Test squad: Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra bats for the inclusion of India's premier limited-overs spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in the Test squad following the struggles of the second spinner in the first Test against England.

The former cricketer turned analyst suggested that Team India should consider Chahal even in the longest format. His recommendation comes after Shahbaz Nadeem put up an underwhelming performance in the first Test. The left-arm spinner failed to pile pressure on the English batsmen, giving away runs close to four-an over. Ravindra Jadeja's absence was purely felt when Ravichandran Ashwin didn't get any support from the other end.

"Slightly left-field thought/suggestion....India should look to add Yuzi Chahal in the Test squad ASAP. Considering that the bio-bubble protocols will take time....try to make him available for the third Test"  #IndvEng - He tweeted.

Yuzvendra Chahal's track record in the first-class is inspiring. In the 31 matches he has played, the wily spinner has snared 84 wickets at an average of 33.21. The presence of an experienced leg-spinner would add a lot of variety to India's bowling arsenal. Considering that England have 5 right-handed batsmen out of the top seven, the 30-year-old's street-smart bowling skills and his ability to turn the ball away from the right-handers might just prove effective. Aakash Chopra's suggestion is understandable keeping in mind that the wrist spinners can pile the pressure and get the ball to turn even on the flattest of tracks.
