India retain hosting rights of ICC T20 World Cup 2021
The 2021 edition of ICC T20 World Cup will remain in India and Australia will host the event the subsequent year. Australia was to host the 2020 edition but with ICC postponing the tournament due to COVID-19 pandemic, the schedule now remains changed.
The ICC is also learnt to have postponed the 2021 women's ODI World Cup which were to be held in New Zealand between February 6 and March7. The decisions were taken during a meeting of ICC’s Business Corporation on Friday. India will host the event next year between October-November, with the final on November 14. While Australia will conduct the multi-nation tournament between October-November in 2022. The final of the event will be held on November 13.
Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has also postponed England’s white-ball tour of India scheduled for September this year. The tour has been postponed to early 2021.
England’s tour of India would have involved three ODIs and as many T20Is, but the BCCI is using the available window to conduct the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League in the UAE.
In all likelihood, England’s limited overs tour will now be combined with the 5 -match Test series scheduled from late January to late March 2021.
