It was a matter of moments at the end of the third day that India rolled up the game and all it took the hosts was just a session of play as they skittled out Bangladesh to seize a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. India’s duo of all-rounders, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja sealed the day with a clinical performance, sharing the spoils of the fourth day of the game equally amongst themselves.

Starting the day at 158/4, Bangladesh hoped for the partnership between Najmul Hossain Shanto and Shakib al Hasan to thrive. Despite the initial signs of promise, Ashwin rattled the partnership with the crucial scalp of Hasan for 25. The fall of Shakib led to the prying open of the floodgates and the Indian bowlers wasted no time in storming through.

Ravindra Jadeja had his first of the day in the form of Litton Das who fell without troubling the scorers much while Ashwin claimed his fifth in the form of Mehidy Hasan Miraz (8). A resilient Shanto (82) was the next to fall as Jadeja had his second. Ashwin and Jadeja finished things up without further ado, cleaning up the remainder of the resistance in no time whatsoever. Ashwin registered figures of 6/88 while Jadeja had numbers of 3/58 abreast his name.

India chronicled a staggering win by 280 runs while Ravichandran Ashwin was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his all-round brilliance across both the innings.
