India eyes silverware against spirited Windies

Team India will be keen to wrap up yet another ODI series win to add to their exploits in England as they find themselves one win away from conquering the Caribbean. Despite a close win in the first ODI, the Men in Blue will be encouraged by a few positives in both the batting and the bowling departments. Shikhar Dhawan's return to form and the fast bowlers led by Mohammed Siraj holding their nerve would be of much encouragement.

West Indies have a string of hard-hitters in their ranks that would probably try and score a string of early runs which can help in setting the platform for a bigger score. Given India’s domination in the shorter formats ever since their defeat at the hands of the South Africans at the turn of the year, they have been almost unstoppable having also taken down the mighty English in the latter’s backyard.

The Islanders, on the contrary, have struggled in the 50-over format in the ongoing year but the arrival of Pooran as a skipper and the return of Holder and Mayers have bolstered their batting ranks, a major impetus that the team would receive after a humiliating fiasco at the hands of Bangladesh.

The surface could remain somewhat the same with significant assistance for the batters with another run-fest on the cards.

Queen’s Park Oval would gear up again as chapter two of the series would play host to the two giants that would have contrasting objectives on their minds. India would be desperate to seal the series that would allow them to extend their remarkable streak over the Caribbean while West Indies will go all-out hoping to keep the contest alive.
