India eyes series at Lord’s as England hopes for a resurgence
As India continues their rampant trail across various formats of the sport, they will be raring to notch up another important silverware as Lord’s welcomes the caravan with the Indians on a roll. It was an emphatic display at the Oval as India secured their maiden ten-wicket victory against England in ODIs.
Jasprit Bumrah spearheaded the charge with an exquisite spell that laid waste to the cream of the English batting order while Mohammed Shami played the perfect partner to the Indian vice-captain’s onslaught.
If India’s bowling seized the limelight, Rohit Sharma’s blistering 76 was another glittering aspect of the Indian domination that saw the skipper going ballistic with 5 colossal maximums. It was a clinical win for the visitors as the three lions would barely claw the surface.
However, it is altogether a different ball game at the Lord’s with England hoping to level the series while India will be eyeing history in its crudest form. The hosts would pay special attention to their high-flying batting order that collapsed under the pump from the Indians. For India, their only major concern will be the possible injury that Virat Kohli has been nursing, which may witness the former Indian skipper sitting out the second contest too.
Team News:
Except for Kohli, the remaining Indian players seem to be in fine shape and will be battling the mighty English forces in the home of cricket with high hopes of a series. However, regarding Kohli, it is still unsure, how fit he is and what the possible chances are of him making the cut for the second ODI.
England will once again be coming in with their entire strength and despite the fiasco in the series opener, one is very well aware of the kind of potential that the hosts come to the shorter format of the game with, especially with the return of their bedazzling trio that stars the likes of Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, and Ben Stokes.
