India eye extension of winning streak against Namibia in T20 World Cup clash
Team India are all set to return to action in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup as they gear up for a challenge against Namibia. With a win already in the kitty, India will like to double their tally while securing significant momentum ahead of their crucial battle against Pakistan.
The Men in Blue had a bit of a challenge with their batting unit struggling against USA. However, Suryakumar Yadav’s scintillating knock bailed them out of the immediate danger and the bowlers did a fine job of restricting USA to pocket two points. With Abhishek Sharma’s participation subject to his fitness ahead of the game, India will have to look at the alternate options who can bring in the same sting like the opener does.
Sanju Samson may be a decent option to take Abhishek’s place in the side if the southpaw isn’t fit ahead of the clash against Namibia. As the hearsays go, Jasprit Bumrah has recovered fully and might be a part of the Indian bowling unit. If Bumrah does come in, another interesting conundrum would be to pick who he replaces in the XI.
Namibia, on the contrary, will be coming to this fixture on the back of a defeat against Netherlands. Jan Frylinck, Nicol Loftie-Eaton and Gerhard Erasmus fought well for Namibia but it wasn’t enough to keep the Orange brigade away. They will be hoping to put up a show to savour when they collide with the defending T20 champions of the world.
Venue watch:
The wicket in New Delhi has always been a tricky one with a decent amount of bounce. The bounce is true enough and the batters will get full value for their shots. However, the shorter deliveries might be a challenge for the batters with the kind of pace that the track has to offer. Spinners might not get as much assistance as pacers would.
