India dominate latest T20I rankings as Varun Chakravarthy and Abhishek Sharma shine
Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy claimed the top spot in the ICC Men’s T20I bowling rankings for the first time in his career, on the back of his fine start to the Asia Cup. He registered figures of 1/4 against UAE in India’s tournament opener to set the tone right before doubling his tally with another crucial scalp in the clash of the arch-rivals.
Chakravarthy leapfrogged New Zealand seamer Jacob Duffy, who sat on the throne since March. Nuwan Thushara, who impressed for RCB in the limited matches that he featured in the 2025 IPL, gained six places to slot in the sixth position after taking a wicket in his first two Asia Cup matches.
Axar Patel gained a spot to move up to the 12th position while Kuldeep Yadav leapt a massive 16 places to get hold of the 23rd position. On the batting front, India’s hard-hitting opener, Abhishek Singh bolstered the hold on the pole position after a couple of smashing knocks to kickstart proceedings in the Asia Cup.
