India and RCB captain Virat Kohli to return after the first Test against Australia; BCCI announces revised squads
The Virat Kohli-led team India is all set for a long Australian summer. The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the senior team squad for all the three formats against Australia couple of weeks ago.
Earlier today, the All-India selection committee headed by former India and RCB spinner, Sunil Joshi met to discuss the contingencies and made an announcement regarding a revised squad for the series. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are expecting the birth of their first child. The skipper has been granted paternity leave after the first test match against Australia in December.
“At the selection committee meeting held on October 26th, 2020, Mr Virat Kohli had informed the BCCI about his plans to return to India after the first Test in Adelaide. The BCCI has granted paternity leave to the Indian captain. He will return after the first Test against Australia in Adelaide,” the media release stated.
Other updates of Team India for the Australia Tour
- Rohit Sharma rested for the ODI and T20 series but, has been added to the Test squad.
- Varun Chakravarthy who picked up an injury is ruled out of the T20 series and T Natarajan replaces the spinner.
- Sanju Samson has been added into the ODI squad as a back-up wicket-keeper.
- Ishant Sharma will undergo rehab at the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru once declared fit he will be added to the Test squad.
