If he gets going, we will have some fun: Ravi Shastri on Virat Kohli’s form against Australia
Virat Kohli has been an absolute monster in the longest format of the game and when he starts scoring, those runs never stop coming off his blade. Particularly against Australia, in Test cricket, Kohli has racked up countless moments that include the likes of taming Mitchell Johnson with a flying kiss to getting the better of James Faulkner.
Just ahead of the WTC final, Ravi Shastri was vocal about why Kohli’s presence is so crucial to the Indian cricket team, particularly against the might of Australia. The former Indian coach warned the Australians about the kind of threat that they can be up against if Kohli gets off the block.
Talking to ICC, Ravi Shastri said, “Virat Kohli will wake up differently if the match is against Australia, he smells the coffee much earlier if it's Australia, so if he gets going, gets to 20, then we will have some fun.”
Kohli cut short the long drought of 1205 days with his 28th Test century to help India retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy and also punch their ticket for the WTC final. In the 2021-2023 WTC edition, he has managed to smash 869 runs and will hold the key to India’s fortunes in the final.
