I want to commentate in ICC events: Yuvraj Singh

Two former India and RCB stars, Yuvraj Singh and Mohammed Kaif had an interactive live session on Instagram. Yuvraj Singh who is widely known as the ‘Sixer King’ is one of the finest all-rounders that India has produced. Like Yuvi, Mohammed Kaif was one of the best finishers during his time in the team.

Yuvi opened up about his interest in taking up commentary but doesn’t want to make it a full-time gig.

“You can get along with people. I can’t tolerate some people in the commentary box (laughs). It really depends if a time comes when I want to commentate, I will. I want to do ICC events - T20 World Cup, ICC  ODI  World Cup. I don’t think I can do commentary all the time. I don’t have the patience to sit and talk about cricket all the time again. I won’t be able to do it,” said Yuvi.

Yuvi explains how criticism can affect the careers of youngsters, and doesn’t like it when commentators criticize rather than motivate them.

“The player on the field knows what pressure he is facing. I don’t like criticizing young players. I have been in that place how it feels when people talk about you. This is why I don’t want to be a commentator. It is also necessary to tell youngsters what mistakes they are making. But we should strike a balance,” Yuvi added.

Yuvraj Singh signed off by admitting that coaching is something that he would like to do on a full-time basis.

“I will enjoy coaching more than commentary. Don't think commentary will be my full-time role. Since retirement, it’s been almost a year. I have played cricket for 25-30 years. I want to take a break and then take a call.”
