I try to keep it simple and not overcomplicate things – Arshdeep Singh
In recent times, Arshdeep Singh has come in really handy for Team India. With the new ball in his hand, the left-arm seamer has proven his mettle over the last couple of years and more than his brilliance while bowling, his versatility has been a major talking point. Talking at the pre-match presser ahead of India’s third T20I, Arshdeep Singh revealed the gameplan for him all along that has turned him into this clinical wicket-taking machine.
Talking about what his usual plans going into bowl with the new ball are, Arshdeep said, “The plans will be based on the conditions, how the pitch is playing, and the match situation. If you bowl at the death, you have good days and bad days. So, it's important to be level-headed. You shouldn't be thinking about it too much. When you bowl two overs at the start and two overs at the end, you can make the match for your team, but you can also be in the middle of a storm when the match slips away. It's a big responsibility. I try to keep it simple and not overcomplicate things. I bowl according to the team's demands.”
It goes without saying that Arshdeep Singh has provided the world with a handful of good-looking strokes, making it a toss-up for the Indian thinktank whether he should be promoted higher up the order or not. Shedding light on his batting, Arshdeep said, “As long as the wicket is flat and bowlers are medium-pace, I love it. I love a half-volley from a spinner. Yes, I am trying my best to contribute with the bat whenever I get a chance. Even in the nets, I challenge myself to improve in all three aspects of the game—batting, bowling, and fielding. The idea has always been to excel in all three areas, and it’s the same for me personally.”
As India eye to secure a crucial lead in the four-match T20I series, Arshdeep Singh will be a vital cog in the plans of India. Going by the track of Centurion, Arshdeep’s pace and bounce can be a major factor for Team India as they hope to surge ahead in the series.
