I manifested what I wanted to do – Mohammed Siraj
Ahead of RCB’s clash against the Gujarat Titans, their head coach, Andy Flower said that he will be really looking forward to Mohammed Siraj bowling. Siraj was sick for the last few days and yet the fire in him is what always galvanized him into action.
Despite having the chills, he had no intentions of backing down from the gauntlet at his feet as he stepped up and challenged the Titans once again before obliterating the cream of their batting order in the powerplay itself.
Siraj registered figures of 2/29, claiming the crucial scalps of Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill while barely giving anything away in the powerplay. Such was the magnitude of his brilliance that RCB chronicled the least runs given away in a powerplay in IPL 2024. Deservedly after RCB secured the victory, he won the Player of the Match award.
Talking at the post-match presentation, Siraj opened up on what exactly was his condition while how he managed to brave it all in the finest way possible. He said, “I was really ill for the last few days, thought I might not be able to play today but I really wanted to play so it was great that I was able to. Got the success today after practising a lot with the new ball this year.”
Miyan concluded by saying, “Reminded me of last year. When I woke up in the morning, I thought I wouldn't be able to play and that I should take rest. When I woke up, I manifested what I wanted to do and that's exactly what happened. Not easy to switch between red and white ball cricket. You need to give your 110% every ball here.”
